Geranium stripped the stem

Girls, tell me what to do! she planted geraniums in May, bloomed in a month, grew a lot over the summer, but! now there is such a "beauty": the leaves are falling from below, the stem is bare and I can see through the drying sinuses that new leaves will also fall. As a result, I'm going to transplant it into a bigger pot, change the window from east to west and cut off the top of the plant (remove the growth point). I admit that the reason for the falling leaves and exposing the stem is associated with the beginning of the heating season (a flower on the windowsill, not far from the battery), since there were no problems with watering - they did not dry out and did not flood it.
